Dear SEIU 105 Kaiser members,
On Monday, May 1, the Coalition of Unions was informed by Kaiser that they were cancelling the national bargaining sessions that were scheduled for next week. This action is another sign that Kaiser is disrespecting our members.
Instead, Kaiser has invited all unions to a meeting in Oakland on May 7th; they have called it a ‘Labor Summit’. Despite the short notice and lack of a clear agenda, we will be participating and hear what Kaiser has to say. They have informed us that at this meeting we will be discussing partnership and how they plan to proceed in negotiations. We will send out another update after the Monday meeting.
When an employer disrespects you, it is critical that we act together to show unity and that we demand & deserve respect. Actions to do just that are in the works, so stay tuned for more updates on what actions we will be doing at your worksites next week.
Our ability to win a great contract is based on every member participating. Our unity is where our strength comes from. Support our Bargaining Team at the bargaining table. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can do right now to ensure we win a great contract:
– Become a CAT. (Contract Action Team member.) CATs talk to their co-workers and urge them to support our issues, get their ideas and input and update them about bargaining.
– Take action at your worksite to show support.
To get involved speak to your stewards or union organizers. Union Organizers can be contacted at the Denver local office: 303-698-1963.
In unity,
Ron Ruggiero
President
