May Day Rally and March a Huge Success Despite Snow

SEIU Local 105 members and staff along with a over a hundred community allies including United Food & Commercial Workers Local 7, the Colorado AFL-CIO, Mi Familia Vota, Denver Area Labor Federation, Colorado Progressive Coalition, Jobs with Justice,  FRESC, Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights, Bend the Arc and many others came together today to support a Path to Citizenship for the over 11 million aspiring Americans.

“Today, as we celebrate International Worker Solidarity Day, we demand a pathway to citizenship for every aspiring American,”said Mary Glenn, an SEIU Local 105 member who has been working to organize her fellow workers for immigration reform at Denver International Airport.

Despite cold, snowy and wet conditions, members and community activists rallied for half an hour in front of the west steps of the State Capitol before marching for over an hour towards “Citizenship” park.

The day culminated in a celebration at Citizenship (better known as Sunken Gardens) park that included food and entertainment.

Stated SEIU Local 105 member Claudia Esquivel,”It was an inspiring day for all of us. Snow was not going to keep us at home. We knew we would be here no matter the weather to show our support for a path to citizenship.”
