Randy has been a 105 member leader at Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD) for over four years. As a Vocational Project Coordinator, Randy works with the diverse members of our community that access MHCD’s employment services.
MHCD’s 2 Succeed employment program is the best in the country: and its members like Randy that make that success possible. Randy and his team offer a rapid job placement service with competitive employment that is regular and decently paid. After placement, Randy becomes a job coach to keep them in their jobs. Randy’s focus is on placement within the hospitality arena, with RTD (Regional Transit Authority) and other downtown Denver employers.
“It’s a simbiotic relationship with the employers: they want to get quality, well trained employees and we want to get our people well paid jobs so they can be successful.”
And Randy and his team will do whatever it takes to ensure their clients are successful. Whether its personal adjustment training that addresses anything from their hygiene to transportation issues or working with them one on one to get their resume ready and role playing an interview.
“We address things in their personal lives so they can become more self-sufficient because it’s not just about getting them a jobs and throwing away the key: its about what needs to be done to make them successful.”
Randy’s work at MHCD as a front line mental health advocate makes him vital to keeping our communities safe. Now Randy is advocating for his fellow co-workers as member of the MHCD bargaining team negotiating their new contract.
